A look at The Great Commission

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.

~ Matthew 28:19–20, KJV

Those were the last words of Jesus recorded by Matthew. His last words on earth, so to speak. This message was echoed in Actis, just before Jesus ascended when he said:

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

~ Acts 1:8, KJV

Then, later, when writing to the Corinthians, Paul reinforces the focus of the gospel and his preaching:

For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

~ I Corinthians 2:2

Simple, right? Jesus gave us one job. He said it to His disciples. The apostle Paul echoed it. So of course, the main focus of our teaching and preaching centers around the gospel of Christ and discipleship and God’s Word. Right? Just like Paul said, our focus is on The Word (the Person and the…
