One of the things that drives me crazy is the resistance many organizations have, including higher education, concerning making ALL information and courses accessible. A student shouldn’t have to REQUEST that their course be made 508 compliant, especially online. EVERY course that uses videos, for example, should already have them subtitled. This is not a hard thing to do.

Because of age and an infection when I was in graduate school, I need people to look at me when they talk. I cannot tell what they are saying if it is noisy and I can’t focus on THEIR voice and THEIR face. It’s amazing how many people won’t comply with this simple request and then get repeatedly frustrated with me. I can only imagine how many times this is multiplied for a deaf person.

We ALL need to do better about this.
