In my experience as a teacher, the kids who got the most attention were the ones who struggled. Then the teacher gave some time to the "average." The gifted kids were left to fend for themselves, even though stats indicate that gifted kids really NEED structure and guidance to stay on task. Standardized tests DEFINITELY tend toward lower achievement so that legislators ca boast about high percentiles. It's sad.
