I think this confusion also comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of what forgiveness IS. God has forgiveness me for sins ETERNAL consequences. I am NOT necessarily exempt from the earthly consequences.

For example, if Judy cheated on her husband Tom and asks God's and her husband's forgiveness, God through His Son has paid the eternal price. However, even if he forgives her, Tom might divorce her. The pain, the impact on her family, her children's hurt and disappointment....she is NOT exempt from that just because she is forgiven.
