I can read a lot of hurt in your post, and I am certain that people who claim Jesus have hurt you deeply. This always both breaks my heart and makes me angry. Spiritual abuse is a real thing, and it is NOT okay.

That said, this generalization about all Christians (and by definition all Christians are evangelical since the Bible makes it clear that Christians are to evangelize) isn't accurate. Politics has co-opted the term evangelical and completely shredded it.
