I absolutely believe this. As a teacher years ago, our faculty read a book entitled “Children of Poverty.” It was very eye-opening. Having experienced times of what I call “financial terror,” I can attest to the fact that when I don’t know how I am going to make it or I am preoccupied with how far behind things were, I did not function well in general. My emotions were more sensitive and my brain was less sensitive.

We need to take a look at these things and find new ways to help people besides giving financial advice or telling them to “get a better job.”
