Think about the last time you needed to fix a rattle in your dryer or change the water filter in your refrigerator. Did you hunt down a manual? Probably not. You probably used your phone to find a how-to video or set of instructions on a site like WikiHow. Besides, where the heck is the manual for your 11 year-old dryer anyway? I can’t even find the socks from my dryer!
There are more laptops and smart devices in the world than there are people, according to The Independent. Pew Research tells us that 81% of the US population owns a smartphone. Most of us have figured out that leveraging social media is a great way to promote our writing and expertise. But how many of us have tapped into the potential of mobile learning?
I’m an instructional designer. I’m an ELearning Developer for The University of Alabama in Huntsville and NASA’s Short-term Prediction Research and Transition Center. Recently, a friend and colleague from a previous job approached me about some freelance work. As a nationally recognized expert in marketing, she has written numerous articles and presentations and created various videos and webinars. She wants to turn these into a set of interactive courses. I think she’s brilliant.
