Horrible Flight, with Bruises to Prove It

--

A poetic lament

(Image from Canva)

First the sitting -

Tetris style

Shoulders curving

Legs compressed

Seat belt

Not

Possible — hope we

Don’t crash

Spine curved

Left half hanging

Into the aisle.

Hip bone pressed

Against the armrest

For taxi

For takeoff

For ascent

For flight

For descent

For landing

And gosh — the snoring

So my neck is sore

I flew

Unfastened

And my hip

Is marked

By the presence

Of the guy

In the window seat.

But of course

I’m not allowed

To complain.

Too bad.

I am.

Sue me.

I matter too.
