As I get older, I gain more and more appreciation for Jeremiah as the weeping prophet. I also identify more and more with Ezekiel and his years of sackcloth and years of silence.
And of course, Jesus's own lament:
"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! Matthew 23:37"
Your article reminded me that I need to weep instead of rage. I have a terrible tendency to become frustrated instead of grieved. And that crates barriers.
